Donald Sterling, real estate mogul and NBA Clippers team owner, has been suspended from the league and fined 2.5 million dollars by it. His offense? Exposing his clearly racist thinking in what he likely thought was a private telephone conversation with his young (younger by 50 years) biracial (black and Mexican) girlfriend. A recording, made by her, perhaps illegally, is starkly depraved in a way reality television only dreams of being. Sounding every bit the inveigling whore, she easily opens the can of putrid childishness that Donald Sterling is. Nasty man, nasty girlfriend… but that’s not what the NBA club hubbub is about. It’s about racism, and with that in mind I’d like to point to the response from former NBA star and NY Knicks executive Larry Johnson, who Tweeted:
“Black people your Focusing on the wrong thing. We should be focusing on having our own, Own team own League! To For Self!!”
Our President Obama called Sterling ignorant. What do you think he’ll have to say about Larry Johnson?
